What Kind of Church is Mercyview?

Mercyview is a conservative, reformed, Baptistic church that is passionate about seeing Christ crowned in every corner of life so that it forges a legacy of faith for generations to come (Ps. 145:4; Col. 1:18). We are unashamed of Scripture, unapologetic about truth, and unwavering in exalting Christ (Rom. 1:16; 1 Cor. 1:23-24). We aim to be a rugged outpost of gospel fidelity, equipping saints to stand firm in a world gone adrift by raising up disciples who take up the Great Commission’s call to bow before King Jesus and to teach the nations to obey all that He has commanded (Eph. 6:13; Jude 1:3; Matt. 28:18-20; Phil. 2:9-11).
Conservative
We stand firm in the Word, undeterred by the shifting tides of culture, choosing conviction over compromise (Matt. 7:24; Eph. 4:14; Gal. 1:10). In a world that demands conformity, we wear the scandal of Scripture proudly—marked by unapologetic theology, unyielding moral clarity, and a bold, countercultural witness that refuses to bend the knee to anything but Christ's sovereign rule over every inch of life (1 Cor. 1:18; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; Titus 2:7; Acts 4:19-20; Phil. 2:9-11).
Reformed
We anchor ourselves in the Reformation’s mighty truths: God’s sovereignty proclaimed, Scripture exalted, and covenantal theology embraced (Ps. 115:3, Isa. 40:8, Gen. 17:7). We reject any gospel that compromises on Scripture's authority, standing firm on the “solas” that proclaim salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, challenging the world to submit to His kingship (Eph. 2:8-9; John 14:6; Col. 3:17; Phil. 2:10). We also understand communion as a means of grace where Christ truly nourishes us by His presence, strengthening our faith and sealing the covenant He established (John 6:56; 1 Cor. 10:16; Matt. 26:28; Luke 22:19-20).
Baptistic
The term "Baptistic" refers to theological convictions and ecclesiastical practices oftraditions that align closely with those of Baptist denominations. For Mercyview, this primarily means we believe: 1) baptism is for professing believers (Acts 2:38; Matthew 28:19), 2) church membership should consist of those who demonstrate credible faith in Christ (Acts 2:41; 1 John 2:19), 3) each congregation governs itself independently, free from outside control or hierarchical oversight Acts 14:23; 1 Peter 5:2-3), and 4) baptism is a sacred means by which Christ Himself feeds us, deepening our faith, and affirming the covenant He sealed with His blood (John 6:56; 1 Cor. 10:16; Matt. 26:28; Luke 22:19-20).

Gospel Renewal

The gospel is the historical reality of Jesus’ victory over sin, death, and Satan through his perfect life, substitutionary death, glorious resurrection, and royal ascension and when individuals place their faith and trust in this gospel, they are reconciled back to God and sealed by the Spirit (1 Cor. 15:1-7; Rom. 5:6-11; Eph. 1:11-14). This gospel not only transforms our spiritual status before God but it also is a royal summons to come under the lordship of Jesus Christ, empowering us to live in obedience in every area of our lives, reflecting the character of Christ in our relationships, work, and daily decisions, as we continually seek to align our lives with His Kingdom and His purposes (Col. 3:16-17; Phil 2:12-13). This gospel also forms a people into outposts of the kingdom called the “local church” - where Chrisitans grow together in faith and become a preview of God’s renewed creation (Phil. 3:20-21). In all, this holistic gospel renews individuals, communities, and cultures, as it proclaims Christ’s kingship over all things (Col. 1:18).

Discipleship

Amid a culture of competing authorities, Scripture must be our ultimate guide, silencing the clamor of worldly voices (Ps. 119:105). True discipleship requires deep engagement with Scripture - to move beyond spiritual milk to the meat of God’s Word (Heb. 5:12-14). This maturity equips us with discernment, training our senses to distinguish good from evil and navigate life with wisdom (2 Tim. 3:16-17). Only through diligent study can we align our lives with God’s truth, allowing His Word to shape our decisions and priorities (Jos. 1:8). At Mercyview, every context is meant to foster a Bible-saturated discipleship, anchoring our hearts in the eternal hope of Christ's victory, fueling our confidence in His promises for today and the future (Rev. 21:5). Through these means, we aim to produce not just hearers of the Word, but doers who live as faithful witnesses of Christ’s rule over all (James 1:22-25).

Mission

Ezekiel 47:1-12 depicts a vision of living water flowing from the temple. Like the river, the church's influence grows as it moves outward, transforming and renewing all it touches, as the early church itself did in Acts 2:42-47. The liturgy of the church is central to God’s mission in the world, shaping believers and serving as the "fountainhead" of renewal, equipping believers for spiritual battle against darkness as seen in the Bible’s dual narrative of redemption and holy war (Eph. 6:12; Gen. 3:15). As the church moves out into the world, it advances Christ’s kingdom by fulfilling the Great Commission to disciple nations, bearing witness to the reign of Christ until He returns (Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:15). Worship fuels mission and mission culminates in worship, as all of history moves toward the glad praise of God among all peoples (Acts 1:8; Rev. 7:9-10).

Come and worship with us for several weeks. We believe that if you come and worship  with us for six weeks, visit one or two of our gospel communities, and connect with one of our elders you’ll have a pretty good idea of who we are and what we believe. Three easy steps:

1. Join us for worship. Our weekly worship gathering begins at 10:30 am each Sunday morning, and last for around 90 minutes. Together we read God's word, sing, pray, are taught the Scriptures, and take the Lord's Supper together each week.

2. Visit one of our Gospel Communities.  A gospel community is a group of 8-12 people who share life and grow in discipleship together. We currently have ten groups that meet at various homes across the Tulsa Metro.

3. Meet with one of our leaders. After you’ve had the chance to read more about us and what we believe, if you would like to meet with one of our leaders, you can fill out the form below or email elders@mercyview.com  to get connected.
