Advent Resources

Books:
The Christmas Promise (Tales that Tell the Truth) by Allison Mitchell
God kept His promise from a long time ago to send a King. “He would be different. He would be a new king; a rescuing king; a forever king!” Tells the Christmas story and connects Jesus’ birth to the promise. There are lots of “kings in the world, but God sent the greatest King of all!”

Seek and Find: The First Christmas
Young children will love interacting with the Christmas story as they find, count, and sort over 450 hidden things in this large-format board book. They will learn key truths about the first Christmas through the biblically faithful illustrations and retellings of the Gospel accounts of Jesus' birth.

There's a Lion in My Nativity
In this story of a Christmas nativity play, Mary thinks she is the star of the show. However, as the play goes on, she finds that every scene has been stolen by an unlikely character or object, such as a tent, a phone and a lion!

Sounding Joy
What does joy sound like? Does it sound like falling snow, or a kiss on your cheek? Award-winning recording artist Ellie Holcomb explores this question through a delightful collection of Christmastime scenes, leading up to the discovery that joy sounds like the angels singing that Jesus had been born.

Joy to the World
A beautiful board book that teaches children ages 3-7 about the Bible's redemptive narrative and points hearts to joy in Jesus. With beautiful illustrations and poetry that can be sung to the tune of "Joy to the World," (see our version below to sing along!) this is sure to be a Christmas book loved by everyone in the family.
